So sorry for your loss, thinking of you all at this sad time. He was a lovely man. May he rest in peace.
Vince was most likely the greatest Irishman I ever met. He had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off his back. He would help every Irishman arriving in Chicago, helping them in the construction field. His mission in life was to look out for others, not himself. He was known to give colorful nick names to his friends, so much in most cases I didn’t know their real names!! As for pulling off pranks, no one was better!! He pulled several off on me. Vince was the best and God is in for a treat with him around heaven. God bless you my friend, I treasure the good times we had.☘️☘️
Hi Michael, I don’t think we know each other but I worked for Vince in 2004 when I was in Chicago for about 6 months,
Over the years I lost contact with all the sound irish people in Chicago, but Vince was definitely one of a kind, He took me under his wing and often had a drink in his basement bar , as he said himself the only problem with the bar was no cash register,
It’s almost 2 years now since he passed away but only seen this now, I often talked about him to friends and family about the craic we had with him,
I was reading what you wrote and it really sums him up what a real gentleman he was.
Rest in peace my old friend ,,
