Gary E. Poston

Gary Eugene Poston was born on July 18, 1944, to the late Martha and Perry Sr. He passed away peacefully in the early hours November 6th, 2024, after a long battle with the illnesses that were ravaging his body. He has found peace and will be fondly remembered and forever loved. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Helen, his son Neil (Tracy), and his daughter Keri. He was a loving brother to Cheryl “Squirt” (Chuck) Cunningham. Gary was preceded in death by his brother Perry Jr.. Gary met the love of his life Helen on his 27th birthday while working in his chosen profession, bartending. Being very proud of the fact that they were married for five decades, it was often one of the first things he mentioned. He always had a joke or a quip to share with his friends and family.  He loved ferociously, was a protective and steadfast provider for his family, and was always proud of Neil and Keri, no matter what they threw his way.  His sister Cheryl, better known to him as “Squirt,” was his favorite person outside of his mom and his wife. Gary was, in our humble opinions, the best bartender around! We will love and miss him forever, but he is and always will be in our hearts. Services will be held on Monday, November 11, 2024, from 3-8 at Gibbons Family Funeral Home 5917 W. Irving Park Rd., Chicago, IL 60634.
