James Martin, 92, native to Co. Donegal, Ireland; beloved husband of the late Sheila; cherished Father to the late Thomas; devoted grandfather to Shanna and James (Hannah) Martin; great-grandfather to Bailey, Kyleigh, Camille, Conley, Luke, and Théoden; dearest brother to Joseph; James was a proud member of the Ironworkers Union Local 1 for over 40 years. He leaves behind a rich legacy in forming the Chicago Skyline: building the Sears Tower, The Hancock, and 1000 N Lake Shore Drive, just to name a few. He will be missed by so many for his quick wit, heavy sarcasm, and dry humor. Visitation October 14, Friday 3-8 PM and October 15, Saturday 9 AM until time-of-service 10 AM at Gibbons Family Funeral Home 5917 W. Irving Park Rd. (1/2 block East of Austin). Interment All Saints Cemetery.
It fills me with great sorrow to hear of the passing of my dear uncle James (Seamus), although I did not get to see him for quite a few years I still have fond memories of him, his beloved wife Sheila and my cousin Tommy, may they all be in a better place, R.I.P.
To Shanna, James and your families, may God give you strength to get through this harrowing time as I know your grandfather/great grandfather was very dear to you all.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh an anam.
Tommy Marley, Donegal, Ireland.
RIP Brother
