David “Dave” Striblen of Chicago, IL, age 59, passed away on Wednesday, July 17th, 2019 after suffering a heart attack. Dave was a man who might be described as having a pertinacious resistance to letting trouble befall him. So, naturally… he drove himself to the hospital. Dave lived a full life; from humble beginnings as a teenage parent working as a machinist, to a semi-truck driver who managed equipment for NU Wildcat Football, to a respected professional in the telecom industry. He paved his own unique path in this world, building a wealth of knowledge across multiple disciplines, and was eager to share his findings with family, friends and colleagues alike. He is preceded in death by his parents William “Big Woo” and Isabel “Izzy” Striblen, and survived by his siblings Susan, Steven, Julie (Tom) Kloepfer, and Nancy, his children Gary (Stephanie) Valentine, James (Jaclynn Crallie), Barbara Ann (Michael Rohr), and Joseph, one grandson, Ernie William Valentine, several nieces and nephews, and his two dogs Ruby and Shadow. A memorial service will be held at Gibbons Family Funeral Home, 5917 W Irving Park Rd, Chicago, IL 60634 on Wednesday, July 31st, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Interment Private.
